The Aphid Invasion of Week 6
Aphids showed up in week 6. I tried 4 methods. Here’s what worked.
What Happened
I noticed tiny green bugs on my pepper plant. Then on the basil. Then on the tomato.
They clustered on new growth. The leaves started curling.
What I Tried
- Water spray. Knocked them off. They came back.
- Soapy water. Worked temporarily. Killed some.
- Ladybugs. Released 500. Most flew away. Some stayed and ate.
- Neem oil. Final solution. Worked.
What Finally Worked
Neem oil spray, every 7 days, for 3 weeks. Plus daily water sprays.
What I Learned
- Act early. Don’t wait for an infestation.
- Check under leaves. That’s where they hide.
- Ladybugs help, but not enough alone.
- Neem oil works, but takes time.
