Day 4: The Radishes Sprouted and I Screamed
The radishes sprouted in 4 days. I actually screamed. Here’s what they look like and what I’m doing next.
I checked the pot at 7am. Nothing. I checked at 10am. Nothing. At 2pm, two tiny green loops were pushing through the soil.
What They Look Like
Two small, rounded leaves. Pale green. Barely 1/4 inch tall. They don’t look like radish leaves — those come later.
What I Did
Nothing. I just looked at them for 10 minutes. Then I sprayed the soil because the top was dry.
What I’m Watching For
- Lettuce (should sprout day 7-10)
- Basil (5-10 days)
- Mold (white fuzz = too wet)
What I Learned
Radishes really do sprout in 4 days. The seed packet wasn’t lying.
