Day 40: The Pepper Is Finally Growing
The pepper finally started growing after 40 days. Here’s what I think slowed it down and what changed.
What Was Happening
The pepper sat at 4 inches tall for 3 weeks. It wasn’t dying, just… stalled. Small leaves. No new growth.
What I Changed
- Moved it closer to the wall. The wind was stressing it.
- Watered more consistently. It was drying out between waterings.
- Fertilized. 1/4 strength liquid fertilizer.
What Happened
Within a week, the pepper grew 3 inches. New leaves. Flower buds forming.
What I Learned
Peppers are slow. And they need more warmth and consistent moisture than I gave them at first.
What’s Still Growing
- Tomato: 6 green fruits, ripening
- Pepper: Recovering, 7 inches tall
- Basil: Harvesting weekly
- Lettuce: Almost done (bolting soon)
