I Grew the Same Tomato in 3 Pot Sizes
I grew cherry tomatoes in 1-gallon, 3-gallon, and 5-gallon pots. The difference was dramatic.
The Test
3 cherry tomato plants. Same variety, soil, light, water. Different pot sizes.
The Results

What I Learned
- Pot size determines yield. More than anything else.
- 1 gallon is too small for tomatoes.
- 5 gallons is the minimum for a productive plant.
- Bigger is better. 10 gallons would give even more.
What I Do Now
Never grow tomatoes in less than 5 gallons. Use 7-10 gallons when possible.
