Mint is supposed to be unkillable. I killed it 4 times. The 5th one lived. Here’s what changed.
What Went Wrong
- Attempt 1: Overwatering. Root rot.
- Attempt 2: Underwatering. Dried out.
- Attempt 3: Too small a pot. Root-bound.
- Attempt 4: Not enough light. Leggy and weak.
What Changed in Attempt 5
- Bigger pot. 8 inches instead of 4.
- Consistent water. Water when top inch is dry.
- 6 hours of light. South window.
- Cut regularly. Keeps it bushy.
What I Learned
“Mint is unkillable” is a lie. Mint needs the same things as other herbs:
- Water
- Light
- Space
It’s just more forgiving when you mess up.
